The Impact of Mycorrhizosphere Bacterial Communities on Soil Biofunctioning in Tropical and Mediterranean Forest Ecosystems
نویسندگان
چکیده
Mycorrhizal fungi constitute a key functional group of soil biota that greatly contribute to productivity and sustainability of terrestrial ecosystems. These are ubiquitous components of most of the ecosystems throughout the world and are considered key ecological factors in governing the cycles of major plant nutrients and in sustaining the vegetation cover (van der Hejden eta!. 1998; Requena et al. 2001; Schreiner et al. 2003). Two major forms of mycorrhizae are usually recognized: the arbuscular mycorrhiza (AM) and the ectomycorrhizas (ECMs). AM symbiosis is the most widespread mycorrhizal association type with plants that have true roots, i.e. pteridophytes, gymnosperms and angiosperms (Read eta!. 2000).

Soil Bacterial Community Response to Differences in Agricultural Management along with Seasonal Changes in a Mediterranean Region
Land-use change is considered likely to be one of main drivers of biodiversity changes in grassland ecosystems. To gain insight into the impact of land use on the underlying soil bacterial communities, we aimed at determining the effects of agricultural management, along with seasonal variations, on soil bacterial community in a Mediterranean ecosystem where different land-use and plant cover t...
متن کاملEffect of the mycorrhizosphere on the genotypic and metabolic diversity of the bacterial communities involved in mineral weathering in a forest soil.
To date, several bacterial species have been described as mineral-weathering agents which improve plant nutrition and growth. However, the possible relationships between mineral-weathering potential, taxonomic identity, and metabolic ability have not been investigated thus far. In this study, we characterized a collection of 61 bacterial strains isolated from Scleroderma citrinum mycorrhizae, t...

متن کاملHow Does Conversion of Natural Tropical Rainforest Ecosystems Affect Soil Bacterial and Fungal Communities in the Nile River Watershed of Uganda?
Uganda's forests are globally important for their conservation values but are under pressure from increasing human population and consumption. In this study, we examine how conversion of natural forest affects soil bacterial and fungal communities. Comparisons in paired natural forest and human-converted sites among four locations indicated that natural forest soils consistently had higher pH, ...
